Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Marsha Lineman developed Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) out of her own struggles with mental health. DBT can be extremely helpful in learning to manage the intense emotions, have better relationships with others and ourselves, and to live from a more grounded and centered place. DBT is best experienced in a group environment but can also be taught and used in individual therapy. There are four modules in DBT - Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT is the only evidenced based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder but DBT has also been successfully used to help with many different issues from trauma to effective communication to better managing emotions.

My Approach to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

My approach to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is rooted in both professional training and lived experience. I know what it’s like to feel emotionally overwhelmed, struggling to manage intense emotions while trying to hold everything together. DBT has been a powerful tool in my own healing, helping me navigate life’s challenges by balancing acceptance and change. I believe in teaching practical skills that empower you to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve relationships — all while staying connected to your authentic self. I meet my clients where they are, helping them build a life worth living by honoring their values and recognizing their strengths. Whether you’re feeling stuck in cycles of people-pleasing, navigating difficult relationships, or battling feelings of shame and self-doubt, I am here to help you develop the skills to move forward with confidence and clarity.
