I am excited to connect with you!
Hi there!
My name is Susan (she/her/hers). I am a rare Colorado native. I was spoiled growing up in the mountains of Western Colorado having easy access to wilderness areas and all things outdoors. I also grew up in Evangelical Christianity and I am familiar with church issues, disillusionment, and deconstruction of faith. I am an Enneagram enthusiast and a 9 wing 1. I love traveling whenever I can and learning about different cultures. I have been a runner since high school and I still can’t help smiling when I see Cross Country teams training or Track and Field events on TV. These days, more than anything else, I chase moments of full embodiment and enjoyment of what my body can do, regardless of the activity or movement.
I know firsthand what it’s like to grow up with an emotionally immature or unavailable parent and to often feel like you have had to parent your own parents as well as yourself. People-pleasing and codependency have been personal struggles. I know how to bring people from overcommitted, overwhelmed, and exhausted to living with freedom and rooted in their personal values.
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (in training) with five years experience, I’ve worked with everything from severe eating disorders in an inpatient setting to minor eating issues and body image concerns. While I’ve never fit the criteria for Binge Eating Disorder myself, I’ve definitely struggled with overeating at times and deeply understand the pit of despair, shame, and self-loathing that binge-eaters experience. I know how to bring you from fed up and frustrated to making peace with food and your body.
As a survivor of sexual assault myself, I understand what it’s like to feel terrified, even as an otherwise strong, independent human. I know what it’s like to have random triggers and bodily memories that show up at the most inopportune times. For the last three years, I have worked with WINGS Foundation and have developed a passion for serving survivors of sexual abuse.
People are often surprised, and even look at me funny, when I tell them that working with survivors of relationship and sexual trauma gives me immense hope. I genuinely love that I get to see people heal and recover everyday. It is a privilege for me to witness people in the darkest areas of their lives. I get to have a part in helping my clients repair the broken pieces of self and put themselves back together again. Healing is a beautiful, mysterious, spiritual act and I get to be a part of that.
As someone who experienced a messy divorce from a toxic partner, I know what it is like to feel like you completely lost yourself in a relationship and don’t know who you are on the other side. I also know what it is like to go through a long period of questioning whether to work things out with your partner or move on. I had a few therapists tell me to leave my partner before I was ready, and vowed to never do that to my clients. We will go at your pace in the direction you choose.
