Our Approach to Therapy
EMDR Therapy
If painful memories, anxiety, or trauma keep holding you back, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy can help you find relief. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works by rewiring how your brain processes distressing experiences, allowing you to heal on a deeper level. This scientifically backed approach is highly effective for PTSD, anxiety, and past emotional wounds that still impact your life today.
Body Image
Do you constantly criticize your body or feel like you’ll never be "good enough"? You’re not alone, and you don’t have to stay stuck in this cycle. At TheraTree Counseling, we help you redefine self-worth beyond your reflection in the mirror and develop a compassionate, accepting relationship with your body.
Our approach to therapy combines cognitive reframing, mindfulness, and self-compassion techniques to help you move forward and feel comfortable in your own skin.
Eating Disorders
Struggling with food is about more than just eating—it’s about emotions, control, and self-worth. Whether you’re experiencing binge eating, restrictive eating, emotional eating, or unhealthy food behaviors, our compassionate, individualized approach helps you heal your relationship with food and reclaim your life.
Using evidence-based techniques like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and intuitive eating principles, we can help you tackle your disorder.
About Me
My name is Susan (she/her/hers). I am a rare Colorado native. I was spoiled growing up in the mountains of Western Colorado having easy access to wilderness areas and all things outdoors.
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (in training) with five years experience, I’ve worked with everything from severe eating disorders in an inpatient setting to minor eating issues and body image concerns.
As a survivor of sexual assault myself, I understand what it’s like to feel terrified, even as an otherwise strong, independent human. I know what it’s like to have random triggers and bodily memories that show up at the most inopportune times.
I’d love to have a conversation to learn more about you and your unique struggles to see if I can help. Chat with you soon!
